Highlight and report unrenderable measured midspans

Profile View can misleadingly render the measured wire midspans in some situations. In particular, this happens when:

  1. Wire#1's attach height is larger than Wire#2's attach height on both poles.

  2. Wire#1's measured midspan is smaller then Wire#2's measured midspan.

  3. Wire#2's measured midspan is larger than it's own attach height on both poles.

  4. The terrain is not accurately modeled to show the terrain changes that must occur for this scenario to exist.

This scenario leads to a rendering like the attached "RenderError.png". The image shows that the midspan heights do not line up with the wire catenary rendering. Additionally, the lowest height ruler incorrectly reports the lowest height as 18'0".

When this scenario is accurately modeled to include the terrain change in the midspan, it looks like "AccurateModel.png".

It seems like the renderer is already catching these scenarios since it won't render the wire with an upward curve. I'd suggest when this issue is caught, do the following:

  1. Display a Validation error in the Design Status. Something like what is shown in "SuggestedValidationError.png".

  2. Highlight the Profile View to make it clear that the rendering may contain errors. Something like what is shown in "SuggestedErrorHighlighting.png".

Alternatively, just render wires in this scenario with an upward curve, which would make it obvious that the data is incorrect or incomplete.
